HOW IT WORKS
Market context

Market direction · 24-hour price path
The direction card plots the last 24 hours as a percent price path, not an average trend or prediction: each of the 289 completed UTC five-minute Binance USDⓈ-M closes is drawn as (close / close 24 hours earlier − 1) × 100 against a zero baseline, green above and red below, with the axis scaled to the largest move in the window and a marker at the latest close. The row beneath reads 24h net (Up/Down use normal gain/loss colors and signed percentages; Flat means absolute change at most 0.01%, one basis point, with the actual small signed change retained) plus 24h high and low with their UTC times on hover. The neutral band is descriptive, not a significance test.
A separate /fapi/v1/klines request for the selected contract, interval=5m and limit=290 provides 289 completed closes plus the forming bar. The forming bar is never used. Requests run on mount, market change, visibility return and every 60 seconds while visible, independently of the main chart interval or zoom. The path requires exact baseline/end timestamps, continuous UTC-aligned five-minute coverage across all 289 closes, positive consistent OHLC and nonnegative volume; any gap clears the whole path rather than plotting a partial baseline. Receipt age above 90 seconds, a missing current five-minute close, errors or a symbol mismatch clear values; clock freshness rechecks every ten seconds. There is no zero-value, forecast or historical-snapshot fallback, and the path does not imply the next move.
Three questions
- Open interest: is marked outstanding notional expanding or shrinking? Plot the last 25 hourly sumOpenInterestValue snapshots (USDT) from /futures/data/openInterestHist. The displayed change compares the first and last plotted values; notional also moves with price.
- Funding: what have traders actually paid? Plot the last 24 settlements from /fapi/v1/fundingRate in percent. A dashed line marks zero when the plotted range includes it. This is settlement history, separate from the live upcoming rate above the chart. Actual date endpoints are shown; settlement intervals can vary by contract.
- Positioning: how has the account mix changed? Plot the last 25 hourly longAccount samples from /futures/data/globalLongShortAccountRatio in percent. The change is in percentage points. A dashed line marks a balanced 50% when it falls within the plotted range. These are account counts, not position size or a trading verdict.
Source and freshness
All three histories are requested in parallel every 60 seconds from Binance USDⓈ-M. Charts show actual date endpoints, low/high values, units and the last check time. Failed histories clear to unavailable rather than silently displaying old values as fresh. Each plot has its own labelled scale; compare direction within a metric, not line heights across metrics.
